We praise the service of Sotheby's team in Andorra who offer FIVE STAR PLUS service.  On being instructed they immediately fixed 'FOR SALE " signs on both balconies to advertise on the busy public road. A previous agent we had to terminate did not even suggest this. We achieved a sale which completed on schedule. After the sale completed Sotherby's continued to work for us for another 17 months!!!  Let me explain. The Andorran Government changes residency and property rules frequently. Because we were non resident on completion in March 2025 the Government withheld 5% of the proceeds to cover unpaid utility costs and taxes EVEN THOUGH WE HAD PAID IN FULL. Andorra state they hold the 5% for six months however in practice because the government is slow and understaffed it takes much longer. After 8 months we were paid half  of our retention and were required to fill in another form to release the remaining retention . The reason for the extra paperwork was the rules changed after our sale completed but nobody in the Government explained this to Sotheby's or us. We were driven to ask our British MP to write a complaint to the Andorran government because the government staff are unhelpful.
Sotherby's were VERY HELPFUL throughout our 17 month wait to have our full 5% retention paid. We can thoroughly recommend Ana and her team especially Carla who worked so hard to have our money paid to us...
If you chose Andorra, beware of the government tax traps and be sure to use SIR... Sotheby's!!
